Five Portuguese soldiers stroll through the streets of a Portuguese village that I cannot identify (any suggestions are welcome) in April 1942.
The owner of the photograph, certainly one of the men in uniform, wrote on the back of the image: "On one of the usual walks through Vila (...?) where you can see that the damsels hide as we pass, but nevertheless they always peek out. April 1942".
In fact, you can see in the top left corner of the photograph that someone - apparently one of the "damsels" - is looking out into the street through the balcony window.
There is always someone peeking...
