We don't know why they play or for whom they play.
We know there are four of them, possibly friends, playing music for other friends.
We also know that it was in Aveiro, one day in 1943, that they picked up their instruments to—for a few minutes or a few hours—enliven passersby.
Music can transport us to sublime places... unfortunately, the photograph doesn't have sound, but we can always close our eyes and imagine.
