António de Sousa was a stoker aboard the Panamanian Aneroid, when the ship was attacked by U-175 on October 2, 1942, while en route from Paramaribo, Suriname, to Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago.

The Portuguese probably died, with five other crewmen, when the torpedo exploded and opened a hole near the engine room.
