The aicraft started with engine problems near Cape St. Vincent, but the pilot continued until they reached Cape Finisterre, in northern Spain.
When the problems became worse the pilot tried to return to Gibraltar but had to land in Armação de Pêra.
They crew was interned in Elvas and all were repatriated on January 17, 1943 in a BOAC flight to Bristol, where crewmembers of the Hudson, landed in Sintra on December 12, 1942, also returned home.
Broadley was killed in action on February 18, 1944 and is buried in France.
