The pilot suffered minor injuries during the forced landing but the aircraft was very damaged.

Depree stayed in Estremoz three days before being sent to Elvas, where he was interned. He satyed in Portugal until July 27 when he boarded the Sunderland from BOAC G-AGES, that crashed in Ireland. The aircraft hit Mount Brandon because of bad visibility. Ten from the 27 persons on board died in the accident and Depree broke a leg and a arm.

He was interned in an Irish hospital for three weeks.
