The aircraft had problems with the drop tanks during the trip to North Africa and pilot had to land in a farm near Quarteira.

Strozier was sent to a local prison for a couple of hours and then hr was handed out to the Army Regiment located in Faro. Because it was Christmas he was allowed to spend the night with the British Consul in Vila real de Santo António, before being sent to Elvas where he spent a large period of internment.

He only received orders to return home in May 4, next year.
