The aircraft was shot down by a Beaufighter from 248 Squ crewed by F/Sgt McLeod and Sgt Inglis.

The bodies of the crewmembers were buried in the Aljezur cemetery and present at the ceremonies were Portuguese and German military and civil authorities.

Four Portuguese men received German commendations for their efforts trying to save the crew after the crash.

The aircraft had the code F8+NT painted on the fuselage.
